Editorial policy
United Theatre Review aims to be precise about theatre and plain about what it does not know. Our articles separate description from interpretation and are written to give readers a useful, considered way into the subject.
Accuracy and clarity
We check names, titles, dates and other factual details against reliable material available to us before publication. We take care not to present an interpretation as a fact or to suggest that one reading settles a play. If a point is uncertain or accounts differ, we say so rather than smoothing over the gap.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made for reader interest and relevance to theatre, not to satisfy a partner or advertiser. Any relationship that could reasonably affect how a piece is understood will be disclosed alongside the relevant material. A partner does not get to decide our editorial conclusions.
Corrections
When a published piece contains an error, we review the concern and correct confirmed mistakes clearly. Readers can send corrections through the Contact page, ideally naming the piece and describing the detail at issue. We may revise wording for clarity, but we do not silently change a substantive error.
Partners and illustrations
Paid, gifted or partner-supported material is labelled clearly where it appears, so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial work. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; when they are, we identify them as such. Illustrations are not evidence that a depicted production, person or event exists.
The stage rewards a closer look
Theatre is made in the details: a shift in space, a held pause, a light that changes what we notice.
